About the Department
The Department of Economics was opened in 2012-2013 and the main mission of the department is to educate our students with an undergraduate program and to prepare them for post-university working life and to increase their research enthusiasm and capacity.
The Department of Economics aims to train economists who question how individuals, institutions and countries should use resources due to resource scarcity, who have sufficient knowledge in the theoretical and applied fields of economics, who can closely follow the developments in the world and in our country, who can participate in discussions, who can make predictions by interpreting the data of the private and public sectors, who can understand and analyze the problems that will arise in practice on issues related to production and distribution, and to lead scientific activities that will expand the research horizons of economics.
Education - Training
The duration of education in the Department of Economics is 4 years. In addition to basic economics courses such as introduction to economics, microeconomics, macroeconomics, courses on management, law, business administration and statistics are also given in this department. The aim of these courses is to provide students with a general knowledge as well as to develop the power of analysis and criticism.
Fields of Study for Graduates of Department of Economics
Graduates of economics departments of universities are awarded a Bachelor's Degree. With this diploma, graduates of the economics department receive the title of Economist. Graduates can be employed in institutions and organizations in all sectors engaged in economic activities, as well as working as experts in economic planning and executive institutions of the state. Although the job opportunities are quite wide, there are career opportunities in banking, domestic and foreign trade, auditing and management. Apart from these, there are also opportunities to pursue an academic career in economics.
